The original Saddle Rock was established in Old Sacramento during the Gold Rush, and only closed its doors in 1995. At the new Saddle Rock, Chef Matt Masera, formerly of Mother and Empress Tavern, has enlivened his Gold Rush-inspired menu with fresh ideas and ingredients.
